Luxury Journey · 13 days / 12 nights
The Art of Slow Ceylon
The luxury of time, private access and places allowed to reveal themselves slowly.
A private, design-led luxury journey
Luxury here is not measured by how much is added. It is expressed through pace, privacy, the quality of the host and the confidence to leave an afternoon empty. The Art of Slow Ceylon uses five distinctive stays and only four transfer days across nearly two weeks.
Colombo is read through design and contemporary life; Sigiriya is given three nights; Kandy unfolds from a historic bungalow; tea country is held in estate stillness; and Mirissa closes the journey with three days facing the Indian Ocean. Every experience can be upgraded privately without disturbing the route's essential calm.

Your itinerary
1
Arrival, privately received
Meet airside or at the public arrivals area according to the booked service, then transfer privately to Cinnamon Grand. Arrange in-room welcome details based on the guest profile. No touring is scheduled. A host meets the guests only when convenient to confirm the next day's timing.
Stay · Cinnamon Grand Colombo
Meals · Dinner at the hotel, subject to arrival time
2
Colombo, considered
Explore Colombo with an architect, curator or cultural host depending on interest. The route may link modernist buildings, a private gallery, Pettah's trading streets, a temple and a contemporary design studio. Lunch is reserved but not over-programmed. The afternoon is free before dinner at the hotel; an optional hosted dinner focused on modern Sri Lankan cooking may replace the hotel dinner.
Stay · Cinnamon Grand Colombo
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel; one hosted lunch or hosted-dinner replacement according to final design
3
North at an unhurried pace
Drive to Sigiriya in approximately 4.5-5 hours. Pause for a private lunch or selected craft encounter en route rather than multiple roadside stops. Check in at Aliya Resort & Spa for three nights. The first evening is left open to enjoy the landscape and views towards the rock country.
Stay · Aliya Resort & Spa
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
4
Sigiriya before the day gathers
Visit Sigiriya at opening time with a private specialist guide. Return for a late breakfast and keep the rest of the morning unscheduled. In the afternoon, continue privately to Hiriwaduna Village for a hosted lunch, rural walk, seasonal farming insight and a lake crossing when conditions permit. A gentler pottery, birding or spa alternative can be arranged without crowding the day.
Stay · Aliya Resort & Spa
Meals · Breakfast, hosted local lunch and dinner at the hotel
5
A day designed around the guest
Select one deeper excursion: Polonnaruwa with an archaeological host, Anuradhapura by private vehicle, or an elephant safari in the most suitable nearby park. Guests who prefer a slower day remain around Sigiriya for cycling, gardens and a private meal. This open architecture is central to the journey's tailor-made character.
Stay · Aliya Resort & Spa
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
6
To Kandy by spice and garden roads
Travel to Kandy in approximately 3 hours, with a curated botanical or culinary stop near Matale. Arrive at Mountbatten Bungalow and settle in. Towards evening, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic privately hosted, then return before the city becomes busy after dark.
Stay · Mountbatten Bungalow
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
7
Kandy beyond the postcard
Begin at the Royal Botanic Gardens with a botanist or knowledgeable guide. Continue to a trusted artisan, private collection or market walk according to interest. The afternoon is entirely free at the bungalow. A small, high-quality cultural presentation may be arranged privately where feasible.
Stay · Mountbatten Bungalow
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
8
The railway into tea country
Travel from Kandy towards Nanu Oya by reserved train when confirmed, with luggage transferred separately by road. Rail schedules and seat inventory are subject to change; a scenic private road transfer remains the fallback. Continue to Scottish Planter for two nights, arriving in time for a quiet estate evening.
Stay · Scottish Planter
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
9
An estate day
Take a guided tea-country walk and a focused tasting, then enjoy a long lunch and unstructured afternoon. A private garden visit, spa treatment or short Nuwara Eliya heritage walk may be added. Avoid combining multiple waterfalls and viewpoints simply to fill the day; the value lies in the estate's atmosphere.
Stay · Scottish Planter
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
10
From cool hills to the Indian Ocean
Descend to Mirissa in approximately 5.5-6.5 hours with a well-chosen lunch stop. Check in at Vis Ta Vie for three nights. The remainder of the day is reserved for the sea view, rest and an early dinner.
Stay · Vis Ta Vie
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
11
Galle with a private host
Visit Galle Fort in the cooler morning hours with an architectural or cultural host. Explore selected interiors, ateliers and ramparts without a shopping-led route. Return to Mirissa for lunch and a free afternoon. A private coastal dinner can be arranged as an upgrade in place of the included hotel dinner, subject to weather.
Stay · Vis Ta Vie
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
12
The final day belongs to the guest
Choose one experience: a Koggala mangrove and cinnamon journey, a privately guided coastal cycle on a suitable route, or a deliberately slow shore day. Keep the afternoon open for the beach and packing. A departure consultation confirms airport timing and any onward arrangements.
Stay · Vis Ta Vie
Meals · Breakfast and dinner at the hotel
13
Departure
Private transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport takes approximately 2.5-3.5 hours. For morning departures, add a Colombo final night; for evening flights, retain the room or arrange a day-use extension where available. Exclusive-use pricing at Vis Ta Vie can be explored for suitable private groups.
